100 Person Prayer Team

100 Person Prayer Team

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!“-Jesus (Matthew 7:7-11, ESV)

How wonderful it is that God is our Father and that He gives good gifts to His children! James 1:17 tells us that “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.” Ps 103:5 reminds us that God ‘satisfies us with good so that our youth is renewed like the eagles.’ We serve a kind God who loves to give us good things.

In my own life I’ve seen God answer so many of prayers in very specific ways. From little things like asking for safe travel to finding a parking spot, or big things like getting married to attending seminary/Bible college.  God has answered my prayers time and time again in remarkable and very ordinary ways. Often times I don’t receive what I pray for or receive it in a way I did not expect, but in all of this God deepens my trust in Him and my communion with Him. God knows what I need, when I need it, and how best to provide for me.  He even provides me with trials to deepen my faith and help me grow in my conformity to the person of Christ.

As we plant Cross of Christ Fellowship we are asking God for huge things: salvation of the lost, the exaltation of Jesus in Naperville, the gospel growing and bearing fruit in the lives of many, a core team of 40 people by summer of 2014, the financial support to meet all of our needs.  Recognizing that this is only possible through God’s provision, we have built a team of 100 individuals who are committed to praying regularly (daily, weekly, or monthly) for Cross of Christ Fellowship.  I’m so thankful for these individuals and their willingness to prayer for the needs of our church plant. These individuals are fellow laborers with us in the gospel (Phil 4:3) and are integral to our mission to reach the lost for the glory of God.

If you are interested in joining our prayer team  as we seek to plant a church in Naperville, IL., please leave a comment and let me know. We’ll add you to the our newsletter/prayer request email list.
