Lord, deliver me from delusions of grandeur. Protect me from thinking I am better than I am, that I deserve more praise from others, that I am smarter and more capable than everyone else. Rescue me from believing I ought to be recognized more for my achievements, good looks, wise insights, or cleverness. Thwart my inflated sense of self.
Lord, deliver me from lies of false humility. Shield me from the insidious lie that everyone is thinking about how awful I am, or that all my efforts are useless, or my gifts are worthless. May I not ‘think less of myself,’ but truly being to ‘think of myself less’ and you more.
