23 Truths For The Redeemed In Christredeemed

To redeem a thing is to take something that is broken/corrupt/enslaved and to deliver it, making it complete/cleansed/liberated.  The Bible teaches us that God Himself redeems a people to be His own possession, a people who are greatly in need of redemption: they are enslaved to sin; they have rebelled against Himself; they have chosen to follow false gods; they have traded living for God’s pure and eternal glory for that which is fleeting and false; they are blind to God’s truth; they are dead in their sin.  Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, accomplished this redemption by coming to earth as a man and dying on a cross.

If you are a Christian, then God has redeemed you.  He has given you a redemption that is true and real, even though we only experience the beginnings of it now as we await Jesus’ return and the arrival of the new heavens and new earth.  This redeemed identity defines you more than the culture around you, your performance, your friends’ opinions, or anything else.  It is a wonderful identity, and here are 23 truths found in Scripture which speak about it:

1. You are no longer guilty of sin, but are forgiven in Christ (Col 1:14)
2. You are no longer an object of God’s wrath, but are a vessel of honor and mercy (1 Thess 5:9; 2 Tim 2:20-21)
3. You are no longer condemned for your treacherous rebellion and evil ways, but are justified in God’s sight (Rom 8:1)
4. You are no longer alienated and hostile in mind, but are reconciled and brought close to God (Col 1:21)
5. You are no longer a slave to sin, but are free and liberated under the lordship of Christ (Col 1:13)
6. You are no longer an heir to eternity in hell, but are a co-heir with Christ of the new heavens and new earth (Rom 8:17)
7. You are no longer an outsider, but now are an adopted child of God, part of God’s family forever (John 1:12)
8. You are no longer part of a rebel nation, but are part of Israel, God’s chosen people (Gal 6:16; Phil 3:20)
9. You are no longer duped by doctrines of demons and lies of false teachers, but are filled with God’s Holy Spirit (Gal 5:22-23)
10. You are no longer blind to truth, but can see with eyes wide open God’s truth about reality and His person (Eph. 1:18)
11.  You are no longer filthy and defiled because of your sins, but now you are cleansed and purified by the precious blood of Christ (1 John 1:7)
12. You are no longer dead in your sins, but are alive and regenerated in Christ (Col 3:1-5; Tit. 3:5)
13. You are no longer corrupt in your thinking, but are renewed in your mind (Rom 12:1-2)
14. You are no longer an agent of death and destruction, but you are now an ambassador of Christ and the gospel that brings life (2 Cor 5:20)
15. You are no longer part of the corrupt race of the 1st Adam, now you are under Jesus, the last Adam, and are a new creation in Christ (2 Cor 5:17)
16. You are no longer a servant of idols and false gods, but now you are a part of the temple of the Living God, offering up pure and pleasing worship (2 Cor 6:16)
17. You are no longer destined for eternal death, but are a possessor of eternal life (John 3:16)
18. You are no longer Satan’s instrument, but are a saint in Christ’s Kingdom (Col 1:12)
19. You are no longer a lover of darkness and death, but are an inhabitant and dweller in God’s light (1 John 1:7)
20. You are no longer a wicked worshiper, but are part of the priesthood of God (1 Pet 2:5)
21. You are no longer evil, condemned, and wretched, but are holy, blameless, and above reproach (Col 1:22)
22. You are no longer an object of God’s displeasure, but are forever loved by the love the Father has for the Son (John 17:23)
23. You are no longer separated from God’s presence, but are forever in Christ (Col 3:3)
