4 Alternatives to Preaching Christ in a Sermon

In Gordon’s book “Why Johnny Can’t Preach,” he lists 4 prominent alternatives to preaching Christ a sermon:

1. MORALISM (be a good person)
2. HOW TO-ISM (here’s how to be a better spouse/parent, how to be more happy, etc)
3. INTROSPECTION (you’re probably not a Christian because of how pathetic you are at following him)
4. CULTURAL WARS (we need to make America Christian again).

These alternatives fail to “feed our hearts with Christ,” and instead leave us defeated and empty instead of built up and strengthened in the faith. (“Why Johnny Can’t Preach”)
