Stench of Our Rebellion

Here’s another song I wrote years ago.

The Stench of our Rebellion
By Tom Schmidt (2013)

Raging again, lifting up our voices;
Crying out, ‘Let us be free!’
We’ll rid ourselves of His oppressive standards,
We’ll do what we want, as we should.

Building a place, where God is just an opinion;
Setting the rules as we please.
Everyone does what is right in His own eyes.
The strong survive, but the rest are crushed.

The stench of our rebellion swells and fills the skyline,
Indoctrinating all our kids till they believe the same lies.
Woe is me and my apathetic generation!
We’ve traded the truth for a lie and we don’t care.

Filling our minds with useless information,
Learning facts that won’t last.
Entertain each other, prevent the awkward silence;
Never really know or be known.

Distract ourselves to fill up the weekends,
Put on clothes to impress.
Another notch up the social ladder,
Another name I’ll soon forget.

The stench of our rebellion swells and fills the skyline,
Indoctrinating all our kids till they believe the same lies.
Woe is me and my apathetic generation!
We’ve traded the truth for a lie and we don’t care.
